Turns out my for loop was the reason my site was slow, not the database
I spent 3 days in Nashville chasing a slow API, checking indexes and query plans in MySQL, and it turned out my Python loop was making 400 calls per page instead of batching them. I only found it because I finally added some logging around each endpoint and saw the repeated requests piling up in the logs. Has anyone else wasted way more time on their own code than on the framework or server they suspected first?
