A guy at the Chicago convention looked at my longboxes and said my bagging was 'killing the spines'
I have been collecting since 1994 and always bagged my books as tight as possible because I thought it kept them flat and safe. At the Chicago show back in March, a dealer I have bought from for a while watched me bag a stack of X-Men and told me the tight bags were pressing the spines and actually doing harm over time. I went home and checked about 30 books I had stored that way for a few years, and sure enough, several had small creases right along the spine edge. Now I leave a little slack in the bag and use a backing board that fits without bending. Has anyone else run into this, or am I just late to figuring it out?
