Pour over vs french press - which one actually brings out better flavors?

the clarity was huge" yeah that's the thing right there. I did the same thing, french press for years then tried pour over and it was like hearing a song for the first time after only hearing it on a cheap radio. The muddiness from the french press really hides a lot of those delicate flavors especially with lighter roasts. I still keep my french press around for darker roasts though, that full body is nice sometimes.

Saw a guy in Cincinnati weld a patch on a steam drum and it made me rethink preheating

Same thing happened to my uncle on a school boiler job. Totally agree.

Cabbage lady at the Hunt's Point market taught me more than any cookbook

I mean that mango story is funny and all but I gotta ask... is it really that serious? Like you seriously still think about some random guy every time you buy mangoes? That's years of mental space dedicated to a stranger's weird fruit demo. I would have just been annoyed he slobbered on my mango and moved on with my life. Don't get me wrong, it's a memorable thing to do but I feel like people act like produce experts are some kind of mystical figures. They're just people who really like fruits and vegetables. I had a guy at a grocery store in Miami once try to convince me that avocados should be stored in water. I still buy avocados normally and don't think about him at all.

Spent 2 years fighting with spreadsheets before a foreman in Boise showed me Procore at lunch

Well, did he show you how to customize the templates or just the basics?

Rant: That time a local bakery's Instagram apology made things 10x worse

Did they actually think blaming an intern would work in 2023? That's like the oldest PR trick in the book and literally everyone sees right through it now. The owner doubling down by lying made it way worse because people love catching a business in a lie more than the original mistake. Portland definitely ate them alive for that one, especially since the apology sounded like it was written by a lawyer who never talked to a real person before.
