Just talked myself out of a panic over a hairline crack

I mean are we really sure that crack didn't mean something worse? Concrete does what it wants sometimes and you might just be lucky this time.

Visited a historic house in Savannah last month and their chimney setup was wild

Yeah I feel bad for them having to deal with that.

Stopped by an old shop in rural Georgia, noticed the anvils were all going quiet

Man I found almost the exact same thing up in north Alabama last year, an old shop with a beat up Trenton anvil just sitting in the weeds like nobody cared. It's sad to see those skills just vanish like that.

Heard a customer say my dryer repair only took 20 minutes, wish they saw the 2 hours of diagnostics

Got a call from a lady in Tucson about her fridge not cooling, spent almost 4 hours tracking down a bad start relay on the compressor (ended up being a $15 part). She stood over my shoulder while I tested the thermistor and the main board, and the whole time she kept asking if I knew what I was doing. When I finally found it and put the new relay in, she said, "So it was just that little black thing?" and tried to haggle my labor rate. People don't get that the expensive part is knowing which little black thing to swap out, you know?

Had a boom hoist brake lock up on me in Houston last Tuesday

Kind of feels like people are overthinking a brake lock on a 20 year old rig lol. If it's still making money and a quick bleed fixed it, maybe it really was just air or a little trash in the system. Not every hiccup needs a full electrical tear down.
