Am I the only one who blew $180 on a graded comic that was worth $12?

So back in 2019 I got really into slabbed books. I blame a guy at the shop in Sacramento who kept saying 9.8 or nothing and I bought it hook line and sinker. I paid $180 for a CGC 9.8 copy of a comic I won't name because it's embarrassing, and the raw copy in the same bin was sitting there for $12. I told myself the grade made it an investment. Fast forward to last weekend, I checked the census and there were over 4,000 copies at that same grade, so the supply is basically endless. I sold it on a forum for $19 and lost about $160 after fees and shipping. The real kicker is I don't even like the story, I just liked the little plastic case. Has anyone else here bought a slab purely for the number and then watched it tank?
