A guy in a YouTube comment section corrected my grandma's pierogi recipe and now 40,000 people have opinions about my family
My aunt posted a video of our family making pierogis for Christmas back in 2021, nothing special, just 8 minutes of dough and potato filling in my grandma's kitchen in Erie. Some guy in the comments wrote a full paragraph about how real pierogis need farmer's cheese instead of cheddar, and somehow that one comment turned into a 300 reply war over the next two weeks. The wildest part is my grandma read all of it and started second guessing her own recipe that she's made since she was 19. Then a lady claimed her Polish great grandmother in Krakow used cheddar, and the first guy told her she was lying about her own family. People started posting photos of their own batches, arguing about onion amounts, one dude got banned for calling someone's dough 'criminal.' The video only has like 12k views but that comment thread has more drama than any show I watch. I still don't know if cheddar is wrong and honestly I'm scared to ask. What's the dumbest thing you've seen two strangers go to war over in a comment section?
