Saw a comment war on a local news post about the new roundabout in Springfield

The city's Facebook page posted a simple photo of the finished construction, and the comments went completely off the rails. One guy, who I'm pretty sure is named Carl from his profile, wrote a 12-paragraph essay about how roundabouts are a communist plot. The replies were a mix of people genuinely trying to explain traffic flow and others just posting crying-laughing emojis. Has anyone else seen a totally normal post get hijacked by one person's bizarre theory?
