My brother's boat watch during a tough dive made me see family differently

I always told my family to stay out of my diving work for safety reasons. Last week, on a deep inspection dive, my brother was on the support boat and saw my air bubbles stop rising. He yelled to the crew, and they pulled me up fast because my regulator was failing. Now I get that having family around, even if they're not divers, can add a layer of safety. What's your rule on family being near your job sites?
