Spent $340 on a Kirby Morgan knockoff exhaust valve and it flooded my hat on a job in Galveston
I was trying to save a few hundred bucks on a replacement valve for my 37 and found a guy selling aftermarket parts out of a shop near Galveston. Figured for $340 versus the real deal I would give it a shot. Two hours into a dock inspection at 60 feet the thing stuck open and I got a face full of murky harbor water before I could get to the surface. Cost me the rest of that job and probably the $1,800 I would have made that week. Anyone else been burned by aftermarket life support parts or am I the only one who tried to cut corners?
