Warning: the night watchman at the Pearl Harbor dry dock kept calling me "sir" for 3 weeks
So we were doing an inspection dive on a barge hull down at the docks in Honolulu last month, and this older security guy named Manny starts waving me over on day one. I come up the ladder, dripping wet, and he looks me dead in the eye and says "sir, I need to confirm you are the supervisor." I tell him yeah I am, thinking nothing of it. Next morning same thing. "Sir, confirm you are the supervisor." This goes on every single shift for almost 3 weeks. I finally ask him why he keeps checking, and he says his old supervisor got fired for letting an unlicensed guy in the water years back, so now he has to hear it from my mouth every day or he can't sleep. I never once got mad about it, but I did start answering with a different dumb voice each morning just to mess with him. By the last day he was calling me "captain" and cracking up. What is the weirdest thing a dock hand or watchman has demanded from you before letting you splash?
