Was told to trust the dive board in Galveston, and it held at 120 feet
A guy named Ray at the dock swore the old wooden board would hold a 900 pound lift, and I figured he was full of it until it did. Now I want to know what gear you all were told to trust that actually held up.
Ray sounds like the kind of guy who has seen some stuff and just knows what works. I had a similar deal with a beat up old come along that looked like it came off a shipwreck, and a guy told me it would pull a stuck truck out of mud up to the axles. It did it without even straining, and I still have that thing in my garage. I keep telling people that some of the oldest gear out there is built way better than the shiny new stuff you buy today. There is something to be said for trusting a guy who has actually used the thing a hundred times instead of reading specs off a box.
