Finally closed that messy bridge loan refi after 2 months of paperwork

I was sitting in my car outside the bank in Newark last Tuesday when the lawyer called saying the underwriter flagged an old tax lien from 2019 that I had already paid off. Had to scramble to find the certified payment receipt buried in my email from three years ago, but we got it sorted before the rate lock expired. Anyone else dealt with old ghost liens popping up at the worst possible moment?

Ugh, that's the worst. I had something similar happen a few years back when a random property tax bill from 2017 showed up during a refi - had to call the county treasurer's office three times before they'd admit it was a computer error. Did yours give you enough time to sort it out, or were you sweating bullets?

My last refi they dug up a water bill from a house I sold in 2016, like the bank's trying to remind me of all my past sins at once.

Bank's always digging up old shit right when you least need it.
