Hit 500 successful data recoveries this month, but is that number even meaningful?
I crossed 500 recoveries for clients in the last 12 months, which sounds impressive on paper. But half of those were just corrupted Excel files where I had to use a simple backup, not real hardware failures. My coworker argues that volume matters for the shop's reputation, while I think we should track the 40+ times we pulled data off physically dying drives instead. Does a milestone like this actually tell you something about your skill, or is it just a vanity metric? How do you guys measure success in this line of work?
