Showerthought: a shop I know went from 2-day turnarounds to same-day, and I blame the spare parts closet
Six months ago they had shelves of dead laptops for parts, now they order new boards and eat the $40 cost, so is speed worth the money or are we just hiding bad diag work? Curious what other techs do when a customer wants it back by 5pm.
Eating a $40 board instead of digging through a parts bin? That just tells me they quit doing real diag and started guessing, cause swapping boards until it works isn't the same as finding the bad chip. Speed's nice but that closet was free money.
