I just hit 500 haircuts on my color correction log and it made me stop and think
I keep a little notebook (the old school paper kind) where I write down every single color correction I do, the formula, and the result. Flipped through it last night and realized I'd just passed entry number 500. That's 500 people who came to me with green hair, or orange banding, or just a color they hated. The wild part is looking back at the first 50 entries and seeing how much my mixes have changed (I used to be so scared of adding warmth to ash tones, you know?). It's like a map of getting better at this job. Anyone else keep a physical record of their work, or am I just weirdly old fashioned about it?

Oh man, I do the exact same thing with my baking recipes.

Isn't it funny how we all have that one recipe we just can't leave alone? I keep trying to "improve" my grandma's banana bread by adding stuff like chocolate chips or walnuts. Last time I threw in some coconut and it was a total disaster, way too sweet. Now I've got like three different versions of the same card. Why do we mess with a good thing?
