Just realized something about hair color consultations after a client chat
A client last week told me she felt rushed during her last color consult at a different salon, saying 'they just showed me swatches and picked one.' It made me think about my own process. I now spend the first 10 minutes just talking about their daily routine and how much time they really want to spend on upkeep. It changes the whole color plan. How do you structure your consultation time to get better info?

Ask about their job's dress code, it reveals a ton about their real color limits.

So true, @caleb_thomas85. Dress codes are a huge tell.

Yeah the dress code thing is a good start but it's not always a perfect tell. Like @annas87, my last office was "business casual" but they really meant polos and khakis, not actual button downs. Meanwhile my friend's "casual" tech job is full of people wearing branded hoodies that cost more than my suit. The real limit is often about money for the right brands, not just the dress code rules.
