Question about using a heat protectant on damp vs. dry hair
I mean, for like 5 years I always sprayed my heat protectant on completely dry hair before flat ironing. I thought it needed a dry surface to bond. Then a client in my chair last Tuesday said her stylist in Austin always does it on towel-dried hair. I tried it on my next three clients, and their hair was way shinier and had less frizz. The product just seems to spread better when the hair is still a bit damp. Has anyone else made this switch and noticed a difference?

I always used to do it on dry hair too. Switching to damp hair made the product work way better for me, it just seems to coat everything more evenly. The results are definitely smoother.

Okay but "way shinier and less frizz" feels like a stretch. I mean, it's just when you spray the stuff on. Maybe their hair was just having a good day. I've done it both ways and idk, the difference is pretty small to me. People are acting like it's some huge hair secret but it's just not that deep.

Right? I felt so silly when I tried it on damp hair and it actually worked better. I was so stuck in my ways thinking it had to be on bone dry hair to do anything. The shine is real, it's not just a good hair day thing. I'm honestly a little mad I didn't try this switch years ago.
