My friend Dave spent six weeks trying to fix a continuity error in his novel about a magic door. He finally rewrote the whole first act just to make the rules consistent. Honestly, some plot holes just swallow you whole.

That line about plot holes swallowing you whole is so true. I see it happen with house projects all the time. You go to fix one loose floorboard and suddenly you're redoing the whole subfloor because you found a bigger problem. It's like the small error is just the tip of a huge iceberg.
