Tried a one word prompt instead of a paragraph prompt and my writing group actually finished something
Last Tuesday I gave my writing group a full page of setup for a prompt, all this backstory about a lighthouse keeper and his missing brother, and everyone just stared at their notebooks for 40 minutes. The next week I tossed out a single word, 'inheritance', and we had 6 finished scenes before the meeting ended. Is it just me, or do longer prompts give people too many places to hide instead of forcing them to actually write?
