Switched from recording commentary after the fact to talking while I film, and my editing time got cut in half
I used to film my project builds in silence and then record a voiceover later at my desk in Austin. Last month I tried just talking through each step while the camera rolled, mistakes and all. Editing used to eat 6 hours per video and now it is closer to 3 because the audio and video already line up and I am not rewriting a script in my head. The one downside is I say "um" way more, but viewers keep saying it feels more real. Anyone else make this switch, and did you bother cleaning up the filler words or just leave them in?
