Fifty project walkthroughs this year and it finally hit me

We hit our 50th completed custom build walkthrough last Saturday. That number surprised me because when I started back in 2001, I figured I'd be lucky to do two or three houses a year by this point. The funny thing is, the process hasn't sped up much, the paperwork sure has changed though. I remember sealing a contract with a handshake on a tailgate, now we're juggling digital permits and three different software platforms. The milestone made me realize how much of my job is just staying flexible with the times, not the tools. Has anyone else had a project count that caught them off guard, or is it just me?

The 50 mark got me thinking about how we all adapt to stuff without noticing. My mom used to drive 20 minutes to the bank to cash a check, now she does it from her couch with her phone. Same thing happened with my neighbor who runs a small farm, he went from paper records to an app that tracks every single goat. We don't wake up one day and decide to change, it just creeps in through the small stuff like permit portals and payment apps. Then suddenly you look back and the old way feels weird, even though it worked fine for decades.
