Friend swore by an old military tent he found at a yard sale

Gotta say, I'm not sure this is that big of a deal honestly. @mila_flores8 basically nailed it - old gear is old gear, it's not magic. You took a 50+ year old tent out in rain and it leaked, that's just being realistic about stuff that's lived its life. People act like something being "vintage" makes it bulletproof when it can just be old and crusty. Probably it was stored in a shed for decades and the coating got brittle, that's not a conspiracy against old military gear. I'd say chalk it up as a learning experience and move on, not some huge burned-by-advice moment.

Tried a new sealer on some MDF shelves

YESSSS thank you for saying this! I did the shellac thing once on a set of cabinets and felt like such a sucker after. Sanding with 220 and just using a decent primer has never let me down, and I've done a ton of MDF shelves and desk tops. The shellac route just feels like overkill unless you're doing something super glossy maybe.

Hit 0.01% engagement rate last month on a campaign and I'm pretty sure that's a new low for our brand

and the thing is, that kind of disconnect between reach and engagement can happen way more than people admit... I had a campaign once where we hit like 50k reach and got maybe 10 comments, turned out the content was getting pushed to completely the wrong audience segments because the algorithm read the hashtags wrong... it's like the system just throws your stuff into the void sometimes even when you think you've targeted everything right... checking the actual user profiles that saw the post vs what the dashboard says can show you if there's a real mismatch happening... sometimes you have to manually scroll through the reach data to see if it's even real people looking at it or just bots and empty accounts filling the numbers.
