My framer caught the wall being 3 inches off before the trusses went up
Last Tuesday my framer noticed the back wall of our build in Boise was 3 inches out of square right before the trusses were set to go on. He stopped the whole crew and we spent two hours with a tape and a string line figuring out where it went wrong. Turns out one of the anchor bolts had been set wrong in the slab pour back in April and nobody caught it. We cut the plate loose, shifted it, and re-bolted it. Cost me $400 in extra labor but saved me from a roof that would never sit right. Has anyone else dealt with a slab issue that didn't show up until framing?
Anchor bolts are the worst for this. They get buried in concrete and nobody checks them again until it's too late. I've seen it happen on a garage slab where the bolt was off by two inches and the whole corner had to get reworked. You got lucky your framer actually gave a crap and stopped the crew. A lot of guys would've just forced it and moved on. $400 is nothing compared to tearing into a roof later.
