Spent $8k on spray foam insulation in 2015, smartest money I ever put in a house
Back when I built my place near Austin, the foam guy talked me into the expensive option over standard batts. Fast forward to this July when the AC ran half what my neighbor's did on the same square footage, and my electric bill stayed under $140. Anyone else regret skimping on insulation in a build, or was it just me?
I did the exact opposite and went with the cheap batts because I thought I was being smart with my money. Spoiler alert, I was not smart. My upstairs gets so hot in the summer that my kid calls it the sauna room, and the AC basically runs all day just to keep it under 80. Every time the electric bill shows up I do a little sigh and think about that foam guy I said no to. You played it right, and I'm over here paying for my mistake every July.
