Walked through a custom build in Boise and the furnace was hidden behind a fake cabinet door
I was in Boise touring a friend's new custom house and noticed a little cabinet door in the hallway that looked like a normal closet. Turns out it was hiding the furnace and water heater, all tucked into a 3 foot nook so the mechanical room didn't eat up any living space. The builder did the same thing with the washer and dryer, built a fake bench around them in the mudroom. It looked so clean I almost didn't believe the appliances were really in there until he opened it up. Has anyone else seen hidden mechanical setups like this, and did they hold up over time or turn into a pain to service?
