My bank keeps texting me codes I did not ask for and support acts like that is normal
Got 3 of them in 20 minutes last Tuesday while I was parked in Amarillo, and when I called the 800 number the rep just told me to ignore them. If you ever get a code you did not trigger, someone already has your login, so change the password right then instead of waiting on hold. Anyone else had a bank brush this off?
Read a thing on a security blog a while back about this exact scam, where crooks hit "forgot password" over and over hoping you will approve one or just hand the code to a fake rep who calls you next. Thing is, the codes showing up means they already have your username and password, so the login is half cracked right there. The bank rep telling you to ignore it is garbage advice because that just leaves the door open for them to keep trying. Change the password, turn on two factor if it is not on, and ask why their system is not flagging the failed logins. Sitting in Amarillo or anywhere else does not matter, the attack works from anywhere.
