My dad swore by sticky notes for passwords, then I found his desk

He told me to write everything down on paper and hide it, so I did. Found 47 passwords taped under his keyboard at a coffee shop in Denver. Has anyone else had a family member give them terrible security advice that backfired?

Tape them under his keyboard in a coffee shop. That's not hiding, that's advertising. Paper is fine for passwords but the whole point is you keep it on you, not stuck to the device itself. At home maybe but in public? Thats like leaving your wallet on the table and walking away. The sticky note method works if you actually put it somewhere random, like inside a book nobody reads.

Oh come on, you're overthinking it. Nobody's casing the joint looking for sticky notes, and most people are too busy staring at their phones to notice a piece of paper under a keyboard. Plus, if someone's that determined to get in, they're gonna find your password whether it's in a book or under the desk.
