Back when I thought zip ties were for everything

My zip tie tower in the garage agrees with you, it's like modern art.

That old espresso machine took me 6 hours to fix a $3 part

Man that applies to so much more than just tech stuff.

My mom saw my bullet journal and laughed at the pricey markers

Is it really planning if you spend more time on the layout than the actual tasks? My own notebook looks like a scrapbook project gone wrong, with washi tape covering up mistakes. I guess we're all just paying for the dopamine hit of a pretty page.

That one week where everything just lined up perfectly

Had a buddy who worked at a shop that was making parts for some military gear, high tolerance stuff. They had this one old machinist who could hold a tenth of a thou just by feel, no DRO, no fancy tooling. Guy retired and they couldn't find anyone else who could do it for months, had to send the job to another state. So yeah, it's machining, but it's also kind of a miracle when you see what some people can do with a hunk of metal and a lathe.

Dropped $80 on a Japanese pull saw and it made my miter box look like a toy

What's the deal with how fast a good saw makes you realize all your other tools are junk though? I had this old Stanley miter box I got from my dad, thought it was fine for years. Then I picked up one of those nicer Japanese saws on a whim and suddenly that box felt like it was fighting me every cut. It's like once you feel what a real sharp blade can do you can't go back to the cheap stuff.
