My dad's old password advice finally clicked after a chat with a coworker

Tbh I always thought my dad was over the top with his whole 'make passwords into full sentences' thing. Last week a coworker in the ER told me how someone she knew got locked out of everything because a password manager got compromised, and the recovery answers were all guessable. She said the only reason she was fine was she used three random words plus a number, like 'bluebottleclock42'. Hearing that from someone who sees the chaos daily made me go back and redo my bank and email logins that night. Has anyone else had that moment where old advice suddenly made sense after hearing a real story?

Switched mine to "rustyrobin53" after hearing that, bank logins feel way safer now.

Three years ago I changed all my passwords after that big breach at the credit reporting agency, and I used the same trick of picking bird names. My wife thought I was being paranoid, but now she has her own list of random bird combos. @jakel36, you're onto something because it seems like everyone I know is either using the same two or three passwords or writing them on sticky notes. It's funny how we trust a lock on our front door more than the one that guards our money.
