Vent: My friend called my password habits 'lazy' and honestly, it stung

We were grabbing coffee and I mentioned I had to reset a few accounts. He just looked at me and said, 'You still using your dog's name and your birthday, aren't you?' It was so spot on I couldn't even deny it. He told me that pattern was basically handing a key to anyone who glanced at my social media. It really got to me, so I spent the next Sunday afternoon, like three hours, setting up a password manager. I forced myself to make all new, totally random passwords for my main email and bank logins. It was a pain, but now I don't have to remember any of them. Has anyone else had that moment where a simple comment made you finally overhaul your whole setup?

Handing a key" is how most people get hacked, honestly.

Your friend basically gave you a free security audit with his coffee. (The good kind, not the boring work kind.) At least now you can forget your passwords instead of forgetting to change them.
