Warning: My neighbor's kid just got scammed out of $50 from a fake game download link
He clicked a 'free V-Bucks' ad on a video site, and it got me thinking how we only talk about this stuff with adults... has anyone found a good way to explain these risks to younger teens?

Talking to teens about scams is hard, I once fell for a "free ringtone" ad that maxed out my dad's phone bill.

Sam's right about using real examples, your ringtone story is perfect for that. Teens need to hear about actual consequences like your dad's phone bill. That kind of story makes the risk real instead of just another lecture.

Actually I don't think talking to teens about scams is that hard, @emery_young13. That free ringtone thing was a lesson everyone learned from. Teens get it if you just show them real examples like that. They see scams online all the time now. The key is not making it a lecture but just pointing out the tricks when you see them. It's more about building a habit of pausing before you click.
