Broke my mom's 25 year old fryer on Thanksgiving with a frozen turkey
My mom finally trusted me with her ancient deep fryer she's had since before I was born. I thought I'd be smart and drop in a turkey I only partially thawed, big mistake. Oil erupted like a volcano all over the porch and the whole thing shorted out with a loud pop. Now it's 11am on Thanksgiving and we're scrambling to roast the bird instead. She keeps muttering something about how my dad did the same thing in 1998, guess it runs in the family. Anyone else got a holiday fryer disaster that made the whole kitchen smell like burning oil for days?
