My brother swore by the wet batter trick for onion rings, I'm still mad about it
My little brother watched some TikTok from a guy in Nashville who said dipping wet batter into the fryer with tongs gives you a crispy shell. I tried it with a 4 quart pot at 375 and the oil erupted like a volcano, splattered all over my stove and my arm got a nice red mark. He still insists I did it wrong, but the batter was so thin it just floated off the rings and sank into a greasy mess. Has anyone else had a 'pro tip' from a relative that turned out to be a total disaster, or is my brother just clueless?

Sounds like a kitchen mistake, not some big betrayal worth staying mad over.
