Took me 3 hours to clean my deep fryer after one dumb mistake.
I dropped a frozen chicken wing in and it splashed hot oil all over the counter, the floor, and me. Cleaning that greasy mess plus the fryer basket took way longer than the actual cooking. Anyone else have a clean up that took forever because of one slip up?

Three hours for a deep fryer cleanup is wild but I get it. Dropped a glass measuring cup full of hot bacon grease once and it shattered everywhere. Had to mop that floor like four times and still found little glass shards behind the fridge a week later. Sometimes one dumb slip up costs you the whole afternoon.

Actually, I think the bigger issue here might be that you were using a glass measuring cup for hot bacon grease in the first place. Those Pyrex ones are supposed to be heat-safe, but they can still shatter if they get a tiny chip or if the temperature changes too fast. I learned that the hard way when I poured hot oil into one that had just been rinsed with cold water. The bottom just fell right out. For hot grease, I always use a metal measuring cup or a thick ceramic bowl. Even a stainless steel mixing bowl works better than glass. That way if you drop it, at least you're not dealing with glass shards plus the grease.

Stabbed my hand trying to fish a piece of broken glass out of the kitchen sink drain once after dropping a coffee mug. Spent the next two hours bleeding into paper towels while my roommate tried to get the tiny shards out with tweezers. Honestly, sometimes you just gotta accept that the kitchen is out to get you and move on.
