Finally gave that mecha anime my buddy recommended a shot

I was super skeptical of Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans for like 3 months. My friend kept saying it wasn't the typical kids-show robots. Then I watched the first 3 episodes last weekend and the politics and character deaths hit way harder than I expected. What anime did you brush off but ended up loving after giving it a real chance?

That one client who swore by double cleansing at 7am changed my whole routine

I had a regular named Diane who kept insisting I try her method for months. She comes in every 6 weeks for extractions. One Tuesday she came in with a $45 bottle of oil cleanser and basically handed it to me. I finally used it that night and woke up with my pores looking way less congested. The whole 'oil then water' thing felt like a gimmick to me before that. Has anyone else had a client totally shift your perspective on a technique?

It took me 6 years of baking to realize I was over-kneading my dough.

My neighbor's 70 year old sourdough had a better crumb than any loaf I’d ever made, and when I asked her secret, she just laughed and said I was fighting the gluten instead of letting it relax.

Rant: Stop using the wrong lineweights on your MEP plans

I spent 2 hours last Tuesday tracing a plumbing riser diagram because someone used the same lineweight for supply and drain lines. How hard is it to keep p-lines on one layer and waste on another?

Hit 200 engine rebuilds this week and still can't believe it

Ngl, I was just counting up my logbook for tax stuff and realized I've done 200 full diesel engine rebuilds since 2018. That number surprised me because most of those were in a two bay shop in Bakersfield with no lift, just a floor jack and some sweat. The first one I did was a 5.9 Cummins in an old Dodge and I damn near stripped a main cap bolt. Has anyone else kept track of their rebuild count or is that just me being weird?

That day Chick-fil-A's app crashed during a free chicken sandwich promo was INSANE

Last Tuesday they offered a free sandwich with any purchase and the app totally died by 10:30 AM. People were stuck in drive-thru lines for 45 minutes yelling at cashiers. Has anyone else had a brand promo blow up this bad because they didn't plan for traffic?

My old foreman told me I was overthinking GFCI placement and it finally clicked

He said if I spent half the time pulling wire that I did moving breakers around, we'd be done by lunch, and after watching him bang out a whole rough-in in 4 hours, I'm starting to wonder if the code book is making me slower not safer - anyone else feel like we overcomplicate residential stuff?

PSA: That $60 lens cleaning pen scratched my front element

I bought one of those retractable lens cleaning pens from a camera shop in Chicago last month, figured it was a safer bet than my old t-shirt method. First time I used it on a Nikon 50mm f/1.8, I saw a fine scratch right across the coating. Turns out the tip had picked up some grit from the storage cap and I didn't notice. Has anyone else had this happen with those pens, or did I just get a bad batch?

Can we talk about that $120 cable tester I bought that barely worked?

I picked up this fancy digital cable tester from a supply house in Orlando about 6 months ago. It was supposed to check alarm cables for continuity, shorts, and even tell you the distance to a break. Cost me $120 flat. First job I used it on, a simple 4-wire run for a door sensor, it said the cable was fine. But when I hooked up the sensor at final, nothing. Spent 45 minutes re-checking every connection before I got my old analog tester out. That cheap meter found a broken wire inside the wall in about 10 seconds. The fancy one never showed it. Now that thing sits in my truck, and I only use it for a paperweight. Anyone else get burned by a tool that promised way more than it delivered?

Paid $300 for a cameo from a B-list actor and got crickets instead

I thought I was being clever booking a surprise cameo for my buddy's birthday from that guy who played the sidekick in that one superhero movie. Dropped $300 and the video was him reading the script like he was bored at a DMV, zero energy. Then he posted the exact same clip on his Instagram the next day like it was original content. Has anyone else thrown cash at a celebrity shoutout and ended up feeling like you got robbed?
