That viral deleted post about amateur archaeologists finding a mammoth tusk in a Kansas field
I used to just scroll past deleted drama posts about fossils and artifacts, thinking they were cool but not my thing. Then last year I stumbled on a screenshot of a guy who found a mammoth tusk in a soybean field near Salina, and the original post got deleted because he supposedly didn't report it to the state. Now I'm hooked on tracking down these archaeological wipe-outs before they vanish. Has anyone else here saved a deleted post about a weird find that turned out to be fake or real?

Wait, they deleted the original post just because he didn't report it to the state? That's wild. I saw a screenshot of that same thing floating around on some artifact forum, and everyone was losing their minds over whether it was real or just a fake prop. I can't believe they'd nuke the whole post over a paperwork thing, like the guy had a literal mammoth tusk in his backyard and the state wanted to get in on it. That's the kind of detail that makes me wonder how many other incredible finds just get scrubbed from the internet because someone didn't follow the rules.
