Found a deleted scene from The Office that made me laugh for 5 minutes
I was scrolling through YouTube last night and found this deleted scene from The Office season 3 where Michael Scott tries to explain a pyramid scheme to Dwight. It was like 3 minutes long and they cut it because it apparently didn't fit the pacing. But man, Steve Carell's delivery in that scene is gold. He goes on this rant about how pyramids are the strongest shape and Dwight gets dead serious about building one in the parking lot. The blooper reel after it shows John Krasinski breaking character like 4 times. Has anyone else found a deleted scene that completely changed how you saw a character? I'm curious what other people have dug up from the streaming extras.

That line about pyramids being the strongest shape is something I actually read about in a book once. They really are super stable structures, so of course Michael would latch onto that fact to justify a scam. It makes me wonder if the writers meant for him to come off as even more clueless about business than he already seemed in the regular episodes. Like seeing him try to talk Dwight into building a literal pyramid in the parking lot just shows how far he'd go to prove a dumb point. John Krasinski breaking character that many times must mean the scene was just pure chaos behind the scenes too.

Hold on, did the book actually say they're the strongest shape in general, or just for handling weight from above? Cause I swear I read the same thing once but it was only for compression, not for like, pulling forces. And yeah, Michael latching onto that one fact without understanding the whole thing is so on point for his character. It would explain why he thought a pyramid scheme could work since they're both 'strong' in his head. Did they ever show him actually trying to draw up plans or was it just him pointing at a picture of the Great Pyramid? Feels like the writers were really leaning into his total lack of critical thinking there.
