Found out that influencer who faked a kidnapping had a prior fraud conviction in 2019

I was digging through court records after the whole Amber-Leigh fake kidnapping story blew up last week and found out she already had a misdemeanor fraud conviction from three years ago in Phoenix. Nobody in the coverage mentioned it - they all just ran with the "mental health crisis" angle she pushed in her comeback video. How do these creators keep dodging their actual paper trails when a five minute search turns up this stuff?

I walked into a random co-working spot last week in Austin and they actually had a dedicated HR person helping members with salary negotiations and job offers, has anyone else seen something like that in a shared office space?

Had to pick between The Wire and The Sopranos for my next binge

Finished my last show on Friday and stared at my watchlist for an hour. Ended up going with The Wire because my coworker said it's the best TV ever made. Three episodes in and I'm already lost in the street politics and the way they write the cops. The Sopranos has been on my list for years too, so I'm wondering if I should've started there first. Has anyone else struggled with this choice or am I overthinking it?

Can we talk about using a handsaw vs a chainsaw for pruning live oak?

I used to swear by my chainsaw for everything, even small branches on this big live oak in Austin. But after watching a guy use a handsaw to get cleaner cuts that healed faster with less bark tear, I'm totally switching for anything under 4 inches. Has anyone else found that the extra time is worth it for tree health?

Had one viewer tell me my thumbnails were 'too busy' and it stuck with me for weeks

They DMed me after a tutorial video and said they clicked off in 3 seconds because they couldn't find the main focus. After that I stripped down to 3 elements max per thumbnail and my click rate went up 12% in a month. Anyone else get a random critique that actually fixed your workflow?

Had a day last week where every single brick was off by 1/8 inch

I was working on a fireplace surround in a house near Portland. Nothing was lining up. I must have pulled three rows and relaid them before lunch. Turns out my string line was stretched from the heat in the van. Anyone else ever fought a bad day like that and later found a simple fix?

A homeowner pointed out my mortar mix was too wet and I brushed it off at first

I was working on a retaining wall in Asheville last month and this older guy came out to watch. He said my mortar was running like pancake batter and would crack in a year. I thought he was just being nosy but I checked it after three days and sure enough there were hairline fractures everywhere. I usually add water until it feels smooth but he told me to aim for a consistency like stiff peanut butter instead. Next job I cut the water by about 20 percent and the joints held much better with no slumping. Has anyone else had a homeowner call them out on technique and been wrong about being annoyed?

A buddy in my DnD group last night said the 'this is fine' meme is actually about denial, not acceptance

He argued it's not a joke about things being okay, it's about people who refuse to acknowledge their situation is on fire until it's too late. Has anyone else ever had a meme completely flipped on them like that?

Dropped $600 on a used spot welder and it paid off in one job

I picked up a used spot welder from a shop closing down near me for $600. Used it on a Honda Civic quarter panel last week and it saved me hours of drilling and plug welding. The welds came out cleaner than any I've done with a MIG gun. That one job alone would have cost me $400 in labor if I did it the old way. Has anyone else tried switching to a dedicated spot welder for light panel work?

Week from hell on a driveway pour near Denver

Last Tuesday we did a 40 yard driveway pour and the concrete started going off in the truck before we even got it in the forms. Had to rush the finish so bad the homeowner called and said it looked like crap. Anyone else had a batch go hot on them that fast?
