The alternate ending to Blade Runner on the 4K disc is the real one, not the Final Cut
I compared both back to back last weekend and the Final Cut's voiceover removal actually makes Deckard's choices confusing. The alternate cut's ending scene with the origami and the elevator has this quiet tension that the theatrical version ruins, but the 4K one at least lets the moment breathe. Does anyone else think Ridley compromised the narrative just to please the studio's purist crowd?

Funny thing about alternate cuts. My buddy in college had this bootleg VHS of the international cut where Deckard's narration was all scratchy and half the dialogue had this weird echo. We watched it so many times we started saying the lines along with him, totally wrong, making up our own story. By the time I saw the theatrical version years later I kept waiting for the parts we invented. That tape ruined every other version for me honestly. Kind of like how you remember the first cut you fell for, no matter what the director says later.
