Unpopular opinion: The new 'quick lube' place on Route 9 in Albany is a disaster waiting to happen for diesel owners.
Stopped in there yesterday to grab a coffee and saw their big sign advertising 'Heavy Duty Oil Changes'. Peeked at their service bay. They had ONE filter wrench that looked like it came from a gas station kit and the kid working the pit was using a basic 1/2" impact to spin off drain plugs. No sign of any oil analysis kits, no bulk oil system for the 15W-40, and I'm pretty sure they'd try to put 5 quarts of 5W-20 in a Duramax. How are places like this even allowed to touch commercial vehicles? Has anyone actually tried them, or am I right to tell people to run?

My buddy's F-250 left there with the wrong oil.

Tell him to check the manual and drain it immediately. Wrong weight in a diesel can mess with the injectors and turbo over time. A quick oil change is way cheaper than a new engine. Some shops just grab 5W-20 by mistake without looking.
