Spent $300 on a portable monitor, biggest waste so far

Been bouncing around Southeast Asia for 8 months now. Saw everyone raving about dual screens so I grabbed a 15 inch USB-C monitor in Bangkok. Setup was fine but here's the thing, I barely use it. My laptop screen is enough for the work I do, mostly writing and emails. The extra screen just sits in my bag adding weight. Also it broke after 2 weeks when the cable bent weird, now it flickers. Should I just sell it for parts or try a cheap repair shop in Ho Chi Minh? Has anyone else regretted a gear purchase like this?
