My French press cracked right before a camping trip in the Adirondacks

I was packing up for a three day hike last month and my old glass press split at the base when I put it in the box. I had to run to a store in Lake Placid and grab a cheap metal one for $22. It actually worked better than I thought, keeping the coffee hot way longer over the campfire. Has anyone else switched from glass to metal for outdoor stuff and noticed a big difference?

Vent: My new cold air intake sounded like a dying goose on the highway

Installed it last weekend, and on my first drive to work Monday, it started making this awful honking noise at about 55 mph. I had to pull over and check all the clamps, and one was just a little loose. Has anyone else had a simple install turn into a roadside comedy show?

Just saw a report that a big soda brand spent more on a single ad campaign than their entire plastic cleanup pledge

I was looking at a report from a group called Changing Markets Foundation. They track what companies say versus what they do. The report said this soda giant put over 1.2 billion dollars into marketing a specific 'green' product line last year. But their global promise to help clean up plastic waste is only 100 million dollars over five years. So they spend more on ads to look good than on actually fixing the mess. It's wild. I found it because I was trying to see if any of these corporate 'sustainability' promises were real. This one clearly isn't. It's just a marketing play. Makes you wonder how many other brands are doing the same thing. Has anyone else seen a brand's spending numbers that totally exposed their empty promises?

Question about the old forge display at the county fair

I went to the state fair in Springfield last weekend and they had a blacksmithing demo next to the petting zoo. The guy running it was using a tiny, clean propane forge to make little hooks. It looked more like a fancy kitchen gadget than a real shop setup. He told the crowd it was 'just like the big industrial ones, but safer.' Made me think about the first time I walked into a real foundry and felt the heat from twenty feet away. Has anyone else seen a demo that was way too clean and neat to be real?

Wasted $300 on a 'high heat' respirator that melted in under a month

I bought a fancy respirator online for pouring bronze, thinking the extra cost meant it could handle the radiant heat near the furnace. The face seal started to warp and get soft after maybe three weeks of use, making it useless and a safety risk. What brand do you guys actually trust for hot work that lasts more than a season?

I was taught to always keep the glory hole at 2200 degrees, but a workshop in Flagstaff showed me that's wrong.

For years, I worked with that high heat, thinking it gave me more control. Then I saw a demo by a guy named Carl who kept his at 2050. My pieces stopped cracking at the punty mark. Has anyone else found a lower temp works better for certain colors?

My neighbor called my garden 'just a hobby' and it made me think
