inJust pulled a 10 year old dryer apart in an hour vs 4 hours on a new one
You make a good point about pulling up manuals, but honestly most people aren't gonna do that in a pinch. The old Whirlpool dying in a couple years argument kinda falls flat too when you realize that Samsung is already obsolete in a lot of ways. Those newer machines have all these custom circuit boards and sensors that go bad way before the motor or drum even wear out. A 2005 Whirlpool is still gonna be on the road in 2035 while that Samsung will probably be in a landfill by 2027.

inThought I was being clever using a heat gun to speed up glue drying on a spine...
Honestly, that's a really good point I hadn't even thought about. So if the heat gun softened the glue too fast, would you say the best move is to just let PVA dry completely on its own, like overnight? I'm kinda wondering if a low fan would still mess with the glue's bond since it's just moving air around. Has anyone tried that with leather before and had it work out okay?

inUnpopular opinion: That expensive Klein crimper was a total waste of money for me
Right? Spent $150 on a Fluke meter and it gave me wrong readings. Went back to my old one.

inWasted $800 on wrong release agent for stamped concrete
Is it really that serious though? I've used whatever release agent was on sale at the hardware store for years and never had a problem. Maybe I just got lucky, but tearing out a whole driveway sounds like there was another issue going on too.

inThat "alternate ending" for The Shining on streaming is just a fan edit with terrible audio
Man, the Grady bathroom scene is exactly what the movie needed. I ripped a fan edit off a torrent site years ago with that scene put back in and it's my go-to version now. The way he talks about "correcting" Jack and that whole vibe just makes the hotel feel way more sinister. Pacing or not, Kubrick should've kept it.
