The big box store lumber guy laughed at my pick, now I measure EVERYTHING twice
Was at the Home Depot in Tacoma last Saturday grabbing 2x4s for a shed. Guy stocking lumber saw me holding one and said 'you know that's twisted, right?' I didn't see it until he showed me. Laid three on the floor and two had a bow you could see from across the aisle. I used to just grab and go. Now I spend 15 minutes picking boards every trip. Has anyone else had a store employee actually save them from a bad buy?

Wait, two out of three boards had a bow you could see from across the aisle? That is wild. I always figured most of the stack was fine and I was just unlucky when I grabbed a bad one. Hearing a store worker actually point it out is kinda shocking too, most of the time they ignore you or act annoyed. Guess it makes sense though, they see way more boards than we do and know what to look for. I've started doing the same thing lately, laying them flat and sighting down the edge before I even put one in the cart. Saves me a second trip back to the store later.
