Realized I was running my group chats like a press release for 2 years straight
Last week in Denver, my buddy Jake finally said 'dude, you talk like you're filing a report, not texting us.' I went back and scrolled through our chat history and yeah, every message I sent had a subject line, bullet points, and a closing statement. I thought I was being organized but I was just killing the vibe completely. Has anyone else had that moment where a friend calls out a habit you didn't even know you had, and now you can't unsee it?

Man, I gotta say I see it the other way. If your messages had clear points and your friends always knew what you meant, that sounds like a GOOD thing, not some crime against texting. Jake's comment was probably more about HIM feeling like he had to step up his game than about you doing anything wrong. I've been in group chats where nobody knows what anyone is talking about and it's a total mess. Organized messages are not the enemy here, and honestly a little structure never hurt anybody. Maybe you just need friends who can keep up instead of changing how you talk.
