Hydraulic hose burst near St. Louis, lost a full shift of work

Out on the Meramec River Tuesday and my main hydraulic line blew right at the pump connection. Sent fluid everywhere, killed the cutterhead for the rest of the day. Got a spare hose kit from the truck but it took 3 hours to swap because the fittings were seized. Anyone else carry backup line sections or do you just call it quits and wait for a mobile mechanic?

That's a rough break, man. A blown main line at the pump is about the worst spot to have it fail, and losing a whole shift over seized fittings just stings. I've been there with the wrench and the swearing, so I feel your pain. I don't carry spare hose sections, but I do keep a good torch and a breaker bar to handle stuck fittings before they become a three hour project. The real kicker is that you'll likely check those fittings first thing next time, but it doesn't help you get that lost day back. I'd have done the same as you and swapped it myself, just to have it ready, but I get why some guys would call the truck. Good on you for sticking with it, even if the pay doesn't show up for it.
