Thought I could set up event registration in an afternoon, took me 3 days instead

Honestly, I figured getting a basic registration page live for our Chicago conference would be a quick job, maybe 4 hours tops. But the payment gateway kept rejecting test transactions and I spent two whole days just on the phone with support. Has anyone else dealt with a payment processor that just won't cooperate for event tickets?

Stripe gave me hell for three full days last fall when I was setting up tickets for a local craft fair. Every test charge would go through fine but then real payments just kept failing with some vague error message. Turned out my Stripe account had an old address on file that didn't match what I entered for the event, and support took forever to figure it out. I actually ended up switching to Square for that event because I couldn't wait any longer. The whole thing made me rethink ever doing online registration again, honestly.

Respectfully, I gotta push back on this a little. Square isn't exactly perfect either, I had a recurring billing problem with them that took TWO WEEKS to sort out and lost me a client. Stripe's support can be slow sometimes, but their dashboard gives you way more information to fix problems yourself. There's ALWAYS going to be some headache with payment processors, they all have weird quirks and hidden rules. The address mismatch thing is honestly kind of common with any processor if you don't keep your account info current. I'd rather deal with Stripe's occasional hiccup than Square's complete lack of transparency about what's actually failing.
