TIL a trick for stubborn clinches on draft shoes
I was working on a big Percheron last week and the clinches just would not budge, you know? After trying the usual tricks, I put a little bit of hoof oil on each one and let it sit for maybe five minutes. When I went back with my clinch cutter, they popped right off like nothing. Has anyone else tried this or got a different way to deal with stuck clinches?

No way, that's brilliant! I had the same problem with a Clyde last month, clinches like iron. I was ready to give up. I ended up using a tiny bit of WD-40 on a rag and just dabbed it on, let it soak in. Same deal, they came off so much easier. Sometimes the old ways just need a little extra slip.

Wait, hoof oil? That actually works on a clinch? I always thought that stuff was just for the hoof wall.
