Watching #CleanUp go viral in my suburb... and why it faded so fast

When #CleanUp started, my whole block was out with bags, posting pics. But two weeks later, the same spots are dirty again... it was just a trend. I think people cared more about the online praise than the actual cleaning. Hashtags like this burn out quick when there's no real heart behind them.

Ugh, this hits the nail on the head. It feels like so much of that stuff is just performance, you know? People get a quick boost from the likes and shares, but actually changing a habit or doing the boring upkeep work doesn't get the same applause. The real fix needs people who are in it for their own neighborhood, not for their follower count. Without that, it's just another flash in the pan.

Totally, saw a guy once pick up trash just for a photo then walk away lol.

Yeah exactly, that's the whole problem right there. It's like the action itself is worthless if the reason is just to look good online. Makes you wonder how much actual good comes from those posts versus just making the person feel better about themselves. Do you think there's any way to tell the real efforts from the fake ones, or is it all just guesswork now?
