A rainy night in Portland led me to my new favorite band

I was visiting friends and we ducked into a basement show to escape the rain. The band had maybe twenty people watching, but they played like it was a stadium. I chatted with the singer after and they gave me a tape they recorded themselves. It sounds silly, but that tiny moment was the highlight of my trip. Now I'm obsessed with sharing their stuff online.

Do you think sharing their music online really helps them? I see it differently. Most small bands get lost in the online noise. Showing up to shows and buying their stuff directly makes a bigger difference. That tape you got is more meaningful than a bunch of streams. Real support comes from being part of the scene, not just posting about it.

Why can't both types of support matter, @gracehernandez? I get that buying tapes and going to shows is key, but sharing music online spreads the word way farther. A viral post might feel like noise, but it brings new fans who then buy stuff and come to shows. It's not just about posting, it's about building a bigger scene. I've seen bands blow up from one shared track, and then their next show is packed. So online sharing absolutely helps, lol.

But have you seen how a viral post can pack a small venue? I shared a track last month and it brought in a dozen new faces to their next show.
