Hot take: My tiny kitchen taught me to love cooking from scratch.

I used to rely on takeout, but now I enjoy making simple, fresh meals every day.

Okay, so your friend enjoys cooking now because her kitchen is small... but is that really a life lesson? It just sounds like she found a way to deal with a bad situation. Sometimes constraints are just annoying, not some magic trick to make you happy. I mean, if it works for her, great, but let's not act like having less choices is always better. For some people, a tiny kitchen would just make them hate cooking even more... it's not that serious. We don't need to make a big deal out of every little thing.

Did you hear about my friend who hated cooking until she moved into a studio apartment? Her kitchen was so small she had to plan every meal carefully, which meant no more takeout. She actually enjoys it now, says it feels more rewarding to make things herself.

Notice how constraints often backfire into making things more enjoyable. Your friend's cramped kitchen basically tricked her into liking cooking. I see this all the time with people who cut out streaming services and suddenly remember how to read books. It's like removing options forces you to engage with what's left, and sometimes that's a good thing. We might all be better off with a few less choices screaming for our attention.
