Just realized those 'dollar store' spices are actually fine

I always thought you had to spend more for good flavor, but my $1 jar of garlic powder from Family Dollar made my chili taste just as good as the $6 brand. Has anyone else tried the cheap spices and been surprised?

Fixing a neighbor's wall in Omaha showed me a common brick spacing mistake

They had a 3/8 inch joint on the bottom course but let it creep to over half an inch by the top. The whole wall looked wavy from the street. I had to point out that your story pole isn't a suggestion, you need to check it every few courses. How do you guys keep your joints so tight on a long run?

That huge catering order last Thursday almost broke me, but it taught me a lesson.

We had to break down 12 whole lambs for a wedding in under four hours, and I was convinced we'd need to rush and skip steps. My senior guy insisted we keep the same pace and sharpening routine. I thought the whole 'anime for adults' thing was just a marketing gimmick

For years I rolled my eyes at people saying shows like 'Monster' or 'Vinland Saga' were deep. Then my buddy made me watch 'Odd Taxi' last month, a show about a walrus cab driver. The dialogue is so sharp and the mystery plot is tighter than most live-action thrillers. It completely changed my mind about what the medium can do. What's one anime that actually made you rethink your own snobby opinions?

Update: A baker in Savannah showed me her trick for laminating dough in a hot kitchen three years ago.
